Dr. Raymond Roberts

Dr. Raymond John Roberts is a highly experienced scientist, researcher, and technical specialist with a career that spans materials science, industrial innovation and fire response technology. 


His expertise includes fire response and field operations. He holds a PhD from the Australian National University, completed in 2004, where his doctoral research focused on liquid penetration into paper. 


Additionally, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Forestry with Honours from ANU, and was a Field Forrester for 10 years, after which he built a CCA pressure treatment plant and then went into production and  technical management in wood panel manufacturing - further enhancing his knowledge.

Dr. Roberts brings a rare combination of advanced scientific expertise and practical, hands-on operational capability, particularly in areas like fire response technology. His background includes quality systems auditing, explosives handling, emergency incident control, rural fire brigade leadership, heavy vehicle operation, and agricultural welding. 


This blend of research depth, technical discipline, and real-world field experience has underpinned his work across product development, applied chemistry, surface physics, liquid penetration research, industrial applications, and fire-related technologies, including wood panel manufacturing.

He has also made a longstanding contribution to regional fire services, having served as a Tanker Operator, Incident Controller, and former Goobragandra Brigade Captain with the NSW Rural Fires Service. 


His dedication extends to liquid penetration research, which enhances safety protocols in fire management, and he has contributed to wood panel manufacturing practices that improve the structural integrity of firefighting equipment.
